WINTER ESCAPES

Every year, as late fall circles around and the waters of the northern Pacific turn frigid with cold, the mighty humpback whale prepares to make its migration to the temperate waters of Mexico. In a non-stop journey of around 55 days, these 40-ton giants voyage south until they reach our shores.

In early December, at Palmasola we eagerly anticipate our winter visitors. Upon arrival, these majestic beings feed on the krill and small fish abundant in our warm waters to restore themselves before they set about finding a mate.

You can whale watch from the beach as you enjoy endless days of sunshine or observe the majestic beings while sipping our signature cocktails on the terrace of your beachfront suite.

We highly recommend taking a trip out onto the water to convene with these incredible creatures. A luxury, private-yacht experience during this season is nothing short of transformative. Watching as the 50-foot-long barnacled mammals glide through the waters, breach, jump and slap their tails right beside your private vessel will have you in awe of their size and agility. Hearing their enchanting songs via sonar mics as you gaze out upon the Sierra Madre mountains in the distance is a quiet luxury you will never forget.
